Steps to Obtaining a Fiancé(e) Visa

The U.S. citizen files Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e), with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). -
Visa Processing:
Once USCIS approves the petition, it is sent to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where the foreign fiancé(e) will apply for the K-1 visa and attend an interview. -
Entry to the U.S. and Marriage:
If the visa is approved, the foreign fiancé(e) travels to the U.S. and must marry the U.S. citizen within 90 days of arrival. -
Adjustment of Status:
After the marriage, the foreign spouse can apply for adjustment of status to become a lawful permanent resident (green card holder).
