Legal Help for Dreamers Seeking Protection and Opportunities

At Powers Immigration Law, we proudly support Dreamers and immigrant youth through every stage of the DACA process. If you arrived in the United States as a child and meet certain eligibility requirements, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) may provide you with protection from deportation and work authorization.

Whether you are applying for the first time or renewing your DACA status, our firm is here to guide you with experienced, compassionate legal support. We stay up to date on policy changes, court rulings, and USCIS guidance so you don’t have to face uncertainty alone.

What Is DACA?

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is a form of immigration relief that protects eligible undocumented individuals who came to the U.S. as children. While DACA does not provide lawful permanent residency or a direct path to citizenship, it offers:

  • Temporary protection from deportation

  • Authorization to work in the United States

  • Access to a Social Security number and driver’s license (in most states)

  • The ability to renew status every two years

Because DACA remains subject to changes in federal policy and court decisions, having an experienced immigration attorney is key to maintaining your status and understanding your options.

Who Is Eligible for DACA?

To qualify for DACA (as of current USCIS guidelines), you must:

  • Have arrived in the U.S. before your 16th birthday

  • Have continuously resided in the U.S. since June 15, 2007

  • Were under the age of 31 as of June 15, 2012

  • Were physically present in the U.S. on June 15, 2012 and at the time of applying

  • Had no lawful immigration status on June 15, 2012

  • Are currently in school, have graduated or obtained a GED, or were honorably discharged from the military

  • Have no significant criminal convictions or threat to national security

Note: As of now, USCIS is accepting DACA renewal applications, but first-time DACA requests are are not being processed. We can help assess your eligibility and keep you informed about new developments.
